Inclusion Facilitator (K-12)
The New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) is a twenty-year old 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of education and access for students with disabilities. We provide training and coaching to school districts, information and consultation to parents, host an annual conference, and offer other services to raise awareness of and support inclusive education.
We have entered into multi-year agreements with school districts to assist them in their goal of changing their educational approaches and systems to better include students with disabilities. The Inclusion Facilitator is a full-time, benefits eligible position working with our clients to implement inclusive practices.
Inclusion Facilitators will work with a K-12 school-based team to implement changes in school instruction and processes as well as individualized student-centered planning. Facilitators take ownership of a few schools and lead the school-based implementation team through the change process. Using individual, school-based action plans, Facilitators develop and provide professional learning opportunities for educators, administrators, and other school staff on strategies to include students with disabilities. Facilitators design and conduct workshops, facilitate small groups in planning and problem-solving, coach individuals and school teams, and develop a variety of learning options to accommodate a variety of adult learner needs.
Facilitators need to be knowledgeable of best practices in inclusive education and be able to demonstrate these practices to others. Facilitators must be able develop and conduct adult education sessions and courses; empower others to use tools to plan for students who present the most challenges to participation in general education classes, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills for product and task production, and instructional technology.
This position requires a graduate degree (terminal degree preferred) in education, school psychology, or a related field; experience working in or with schools and school staff; commitment to inclusive education for students with disabilities; and experience in:
Multi-tiered Systems of Support/RtI/PBIS;
Collaborative models of support;
Providing consultation, support, and follow-up to school teams;
Conducting formal in-service training sessions and group presentations;
Provide Professional Development on Special Education topics and Inclusive Education
Professional Learning and Technical Assistance, Student Centered Planning, Group/team facilitation, Relationship-building, Organizational Support, and other duties as assigned.
